Last week, representatives of CLOTEX-HUB were part of a delegation from Khmelnytskyi that made a study visit to Oslo and Sandefjord (Norway) at the invitation of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. The program was dedicated to studying Norwegian best practices in industrial waste management and modern circular solutions in the field of light industry.
Khmelnytskyi is one of the leading centers of textile and light industry in Ukraine. Significant production volumes also create significant flows of textile waste, so the city is actively looking for innovative and sustainable approaches to their recycling and reuse. The study visit to Norway was an opportunity to get acquainted with modern circular models that are successfully operating in the country and can be adapted to the needs of our region.

The visit program included meetings with municipal authorities, research institutes, circular economy organizations and social enterprises working in the field of reuse, sorting and recycling of textile materials. Norwegian experts shared their experience in building effective waste management systems, especially in terms of developing circular value chains and infrastructure for recycling.
In the Vestfold and Sandefjord regions, the delegation visited a regional waste management company, a biogas complex that converts organic waste into renewable resources, and Norway’s first textile-to-textile recycling plant. This was a unique opportunity to see technologies that allow for a full circular cycle and reduce the burden on the environment.

Participation of representatives CLOTEX-HUB this study visit was an important step in expanding international cooperation and transferring best practices of the circular economy to Ukrainian light industry. The knowledge and contacts gained open up new opportunities for developing environmental solutions, supporting manufacturers, and forming a sustainable innovation ecosystem in the region.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Norwegian and Ukrainian partners who made this trip possible and contribute to the development of important international cooperation.
